If you sense that your issues are broader, deeper, and pervasive, or that you continue having the same problem again and again over a long period of time, individual therapy is suggested.  In longer-term therapy, we identify thought and behavior patterns that are repetitive and that get in your way.  We begin to understand the origins of these thoughts and behaviors, and why they are now dysfunctional.  Gradually, you work through your fears of changing behaviors that, though destructive, are familiar.  You can then make conscious choices to think about things differently, and to behave differently; to use more adaptive patterns of behavior that are based in the present.  Over time, you then begin to live with a new confidence, vitality, and a joyous sense of life’s possibilities. With a technique that combines insight, encouragement and humor they can become more hopeful and can live a fuller life.
